Pakistan takes on England in the second Test starting from December 9 to 13 in Multan. The visitors won the first Test by 74 runs as this was England’s first Test win on Pakistan soil after 22 years. This is also England’s first trip to Pakistan after 2005. Another win for the visitors would help them win an elusive Test series in Pakistan with the new crop of players. 

England scored 657 in the first innings of the first Test. Four England batters scored centuries. Pakistan in response scored 579 with three players scoring centuries. The ball started gripping in the second innings as the pitch started wearing down. It showed in the second innings scores of both teams.

England was praised for a bold declaration at 264/7 in their second innings setting the hosts a target of 343. England bowlers then bowled out the opposition for 268 earning a famous 74 run-win and going one up in the series.

England and Pakistan have played 86 Test matches to date with England winning 26 games and Pakistan 21. As many as 39 matches ended in a draw. The series is a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship with Australia leading the points table. Pakistan are placed fifth and England is seventh at the moment.

Heading into the Test series, England defeated Pakistan 4-3 in a T20I series back in September. Ben Stokes will lead England while Babar Azam will lead Pakistan in the second Test. Pakistan needs to win this Test match to keep the series alive.
