Pakistan face England in the second T20I in Karachi on September 22. The visitors led by Moeen Ali won the first T20I by six wickets. Ali led the side in the absence of Jos Buttler who picked up a calf injury ahead of the first game.

Pakistan scored a below-par total of 158/7 with scores from Mohammad Rizwan (68), Babar Azam (31) and Iftikhar Ahmed (28). Luke Wood making his debut picked up 3 for 27. Alex Hales on his return scored 53 off 40 balls as England won the game with four balls to spare. This is a seven-match series with both teams getting enough time for a comeback. Pakistan will be willing to put behind this loss and correct the mistakes in the second game.

Babar Azam‘s lack of form is a worrying sign for Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia. The hosts were comprehensively beaten by England in the first T20I with not much of a fight from the hosts. The disciplined England bowling attack never allowed Pakistan to run away from the game.

Rizwan is scoring single-handedly at the top and is not getting much support from the lower order. With six games to go in the series, Pakistan should find their team combination or else they might not have a good campaign in Australia.

The visitors made a good start to their historic trip to Pakistan after 17 years. They had an almost clinical game with the bowlers setting the game and the batters finishing the chase. After Hales’ effort at the top, Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett scored in their 20s to take the game close to the finish. Harry Brooke then scored an unbeaten 42 off 25 balls to take the side home. Moeen Ali was a pleased captain

“Brilliant performance, they got off to a great start, but we pulled things back in the middle overs, the bowlers were excellent. On a tough surface, I thought the batters did well. Rashid and Wood’s debut was outstanding and was a good all-round performance from the bowling unit. We were smart with the chase, Alex Hales, batting after such a long time, he was nervous but showed why he’s one of the best in the country. Brook showed why he’s rated so highly back home, their partnership was wonderful to watch” as he lauded the players for their performance.
