Pakistan host England for a seven-match T20I series starting with the first T20I in Karachi on September 20. The first four games will be played in Karachi while the final three games will be played in Lahore. Both teams then play a three-matchTest series in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi. England last toured Pakistan back in 2005. The hosts won a Test series 2-0 back then.
The PCB has announced an 18-member side with a few new names in the squad. After losing the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, the squad will be motivated to come back to winning ways against England. The series is a dress rehearsal for both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the PCB officials have welcomed England’s willingness to play a bilateral series against Pakistan in Pakistan.
“We are pleased that Pakistan and England Test rivalry, which has historically produced close and tight matches, will return to our backyards in December. Both the sides have evolved since they last played in Pakistan in 2005 and have recently been playing entertaining and exciting cricket. I remain confident this series will live up to the expectations of the global cricket fans who want to watch and enjoy competitive and thrilling matches,” said Zakir Khan, PCB Director – International Cricket.
In this article, we take a look at Pakistan’s probable playing XI against England for the first T20I.

Iftikhar Ahmed
With no Fakhar Zaman in the side, Iftikhar has a chance to bat at number three. He played a few good knocks in the Asia Cup.
Mohammad Nawaz
The left-arm spinning all-rounder can slot in at number four. He played a few good knocks in the Asia Cup including a cameo against India scoring 42 off 20 balls.
Khushdil Shah
Another hard-hitting southpaw, Shah can bat at number five. He also was a part of Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad.
Asif Ali
Hard-hitting finisher Asif Ali can slot in at six. He has not been in the best of form in recent times.
Shadab Khan
Shadab will be Babar’s deputy in the series. He will have a role to play with both bat and ball. The leggie bagged 8 wickets in the multi-nation Asian championship.
Haris Rauf
Rauf will lead the seam attack for Pakistan. He ended the Asia Cup with 8 wickets. Haris is a part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad.
Mohammad Hasnain
Hasnain will be the second seamer in the playing XI. He is an exciting young bowler with a lot of promise.
Naseem Shah
Naseem was a big positive for Pakistan in the Asia Cup campaign. He ended the series with seven wickets from five games. He made his T20I debut in the series.
Usman Qadir
Qadir will conclude Pakistan’s likely playing XI as the second specialist spinner in the lineup.
