PAK vs NZ: Kamran Akmal Feels Pakistan's Approach In Test Cricket Is Negative

The 40-year-old Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has stated that the approach of Team Pakistan in Test cricket has been quite negative.

Pakistan had a pretty bad year in Test cricket in 2022. They played overall 9 matches in the longest format of the game and won just 1 match while losing 5 and 3 ending in a draw. Also, they finished 2022 with no Test wins at home.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal criticised the tracks produced for Pakistan’s home Test games. He said:

“Pakistan’s approach in Test cricket has been quite negative, considering the pitches that we have been preparing. While we have used batting-friendly pitches in their last seven home Tests, it is equally important to give our bowlers some confidence.

“If your spinners are going to bowl so many overs, how are you going to take 20 wickets? We should consider playing on grassy wickets, as our pacers are quicker than the New Zealand fast bowlers.”

New Zealand dominated us – Kamran Akmal

The first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi ended in a draw after Pakistan declared the innings on 311 for 8 to set a target of 138 in the final hour of the Test.

The Kiwis needed to chase 138 runs in just 15 overs and they were at 61 for 1 in 7.3 overs when the match had to be stopped due to bad light.

Meanwhile, Kamran Akmal said that New Zealand dominated Pakistan in the first Test and they just played better cricket. He also lavished praise on “fantastic player” Kane Williamson for his remarkable double-century in the innings. Kamran Akmal said:

“New Zealand played a lot better than Pakistan. They were playing on a tough pitch and in challenging conditions. But they were still able to dominate. Kane Williamson is a fantastic player, and he showed his class yet again. Countering spinners on such a track is an art, and he was quite exceptional. New Zealand dominated us.”
