Pakistan takes on New Zealand in the third and final ODI in Karachi on January 12. The series is tied at 1-1 after the hosts won the first game and the visitors won the second. The series is well poised for a thrilling finish with a middling score between 250-260 expected. The series is important for both teams heading into the ODI World Cup

Mohammad Rizwan returned to the Pakistan ODI side after missing out on the Test series. Babar Azam will continue to lead the Pakistani side. The Shahid Afridi -led selection committee named a 16-member squad with three fresh faces. Uncapped batters Tayyab Tahir and Kamran Ghulam and wrist spinner Usama Mir are in the 16-member squad.

Pakistan last played an ODI series against the Netherlands in August last year winning it 3-0. After failing to win a single test match in the home season in Test cricket, the Pakistan skipper and the side as a whole will be under pressure to perform. They won the first ODI convincingly and will aim to replicate their performance in the second.

Fakhar will continue to open the batting. After scoring 56 in the first ODI, he was dismissed for a duck in the second ODI. In 2022, the southpaw scored 303 runs in nine matches at an average of 33.67. Zaman is an attacking batsman by nature and would look to give his team a great start in the decider.
