In the 44th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21, Brisbane Heat will confront Perth Scorchers for the first time on January 19 (Tuesday). Docklands Stadium in Melbourne will host this match.
Coming off from a victory in the last match, Brisbane Heat are stationed at the number fifth position in the points table with 20 points while Perth Scorchers are just above them with one point more. The win against Scorchers will lead Heat to enter among the top four teams in the points table.

Max Bryant is the second-highest for Brisbane Heat but the opener has so far not scored a fifty this season. His highest score is 40. The English batsman has chipped in times of need. Against Sydney Thunder, he stitched a match-winning partnership with Joe Burns and in the process, registered maiden half-century of the season. In the last match against Melbourne Renegades, he scored 31 runs off 25 balls while chasing 150 runs.
Joe Burns:
Joe Burns has returned to the Brisbane Heat after the Australia team released him from the ongoing Test series. After being out for one run in his first match, Burns registered the maiden half-century against Sydney Thunder which powered Heat toward the win. Against Melbourne Stars, he accelerated the innings, scoring 22 runs off 11 balls. He will look to play such more knock to gain confidence which he had lost during the Test series.
Jimmy Peirson (wk):
Jimmy Peirson, who was leading the team in absence of Chris Lynn, hasn’t managed to charge up the innings in the last couple of matches. Against Sydney Sixers, he consumed 18 balls but was out after scoring 16 runs. Brisbane Heat will hope that he replicates the knock as he played against Adelaide Strikers, scoring unbeaten 69 runs in 36 balls.
Lewis Gregory:
The all-rounder Lewis Gregory has given useful contributions with both bat and ball. Being in the lower-middle order, he hasn’t got much time to spend in the middle but has capitalized on the opportunity to accelerate the innings. At the strike rate of 141.17, he has scored 97 runs in seven matches. He has also six wickets in his name and his best figure being 3/22.
James Bazley:
Bazley made his debut for Brisbane Heat against Hobart Hurricanes. He stitched a match-winning partnership with the captain Jimmy Peirson to take the game home after the collapse of the middle-order. The all-rounder scored unbeaten 31 runs, striking two fours and three sixes. But after that knock, he hasn’t managed to even score 10 runs in a match.
Jack Wildermuth:
The fast bowling allrounder Jack Wildermuth’s best has come during his maiden match for Brisbane Heat that was against Sydney Thunders. He went on to play a rocket fueling knock, scoring 31 runs in 11 balls in which he struck four fours. Apart from batting, he was also economical and picked three wickets while gave away only 23 runs in his four overs quota. The franchise will want him to continue giving them success.
Mark Steketee:
The right-arm pacer Mark Steketee has got the knack of picking wickets but he needs to learn the art of control the run rate. In nine matches, the 26-year-old pacer has picked up 18 wickets but at the poor economy rate of 8.52. He had leaked 40 runs in his four overs quota against Sydney Sixers.
Xavier Barlett:
Bartlett has given breakthroughs in crucial situations. His best has come in his second match of the season that was against Adelaide Strikers batting attack. The pacer picked three wickets while gave away 24 runs in his four overs quota to halt them for 150 runs. The speedsters need to replicate a similar performance against strong Scorchers.
Morne Morkel:
Morne Morkel, who is playing as the local player of Australia, played the maiden match of the Big Bash League against Melbourne Renegades. He picked up one wicket while leaked 29 runs in his four overs.
