There are 6 teams in the tournament. They are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators. A total of 34 matches will be played in the tournament.

The tournament will take place in a double round-robin format. Hence, each team will play against other teams twice. Hence, one team will play 10 matches during the league stage. The top 4 teams in the points table after the league stage will qualify for playoffs.

PSL 2023 is the 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League. Lahore Qalandars are the defending champions of the tournament. They won the title in the last season by defeating Multan Sultans in the final.
