The PSL is on schedule to become the first T20 league to compete directly with the IPL in 2025 due to Pakistan’s jam-packed home season in 2024–2025.

The Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan in February 2025, will be the country’s first ICC tournament in nearly 30 years, as ESPNcricinfo revealed in the first place.

As a result, the PCB was forced to set a date for the tenth season of the PSL between March and May. The IPL’s longer and more or less fixed window in the international calendar runs from the first week of March to the beginning of June each year.

Due to security-related concerns, Pakistan missed out on three opportunities to host multi-nation cricket at home starting in 2009; however, in the last three years, it has started to host top teams and is slated to host all Full Members [apart from India] in the 2023–27 Future Tours Programme. The ICC World Test Championship cycles consist of 27 Tests, including 13 at home, 26 home ODIs out of a possible 47, and 27 T20Is out of a possible 56. The consecutive World Test Championship cycles include the Tests.

In 2025, the IPL and the PSL will have a date clash:

The PSL and the IPL will clash on dates in 2025 due to the abundance of games, and the 2026 PSL will instead take place less than seven months later, from December 2025–January 2026. However, the PSL’s 12th edition in 2027 will return to its usual timeframe in January and February.

“We have given attention to context, quality, and player workload while finalizing our Future Tours Programme 2023–2027 amid a tight and densely-packed cricket calendar,” PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain said in a statement. “We have also made an effort to strike the right balance among the three formats so that they may continue to coexist in a useful way.”
