Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) President Gulzar Inder Chahal has resigned from his post. He has cited personal reasons behind his resignation. He was unanimously elected as the President in May 2022. The 39-year-old has been under pressure from PCA Apex Council and from the Punjab Government to step down from the post.

PCA’s image has been tarnished. It would be interesting to see who would fill the post of President. PCA would be utterly disappointed as their board is considered to be one of the reputed boards in India.

Harbhajan Singh on PCA

In the last week, India’s Legendary Spinner Harbhajan Singh had written a letter to the PCA Association as the spinner alleged that there are illegal activities going on in the PCA.  The spinner also is the chief advisor of the PCA. PCA has given great players to the Indian Cricket Team in the form of Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh and a lot of others.

PCA in Deep Trouble

As Gulzar Inder Chahal has resigned, according to reports it is assumed that PCA Chief and Industrialist Rajender Gupta may fill his post. Rajender was elected as the PCA Chief in 2017 and was once again elected in 2019. He has been a part of PCA since 1994 and can be said that he has been an integral part of the setup.

PCA would be hoping that they get the perfect candidate for the post. It looks like the administration needs a revamp as this issue is never-ending. With the T20 World Cup 2022 around the corner, such sort of distractions can only damage the name of the Indian Cricket Team.
