Recently, InsideSport reported that Punjab Kings is set to undergo another overhaul. Only last season did PBKS name Mayank Agarwal as their captain. However, they are planning to appoint a new captain in his place. Jonny Bairstow is the favourite to succeed him.

PBKS has been in contact with Trevor Bayliss and Eoin Morgan about the coaching position. However, nothing is finalized as of yet. Mayank Agarwal, for one, will not be transferred or released. He will stay on the team. However, he will no longer captain the team.

“No Mayank is not in plans to lead. He will need to focus on batting. He will be a crucial player for us. As for Anil, we are discussing a few options but nothing has materialized yet. We have time left. We will take a call at the right time,” a Punjab Kings official told InsideSport.

Punjab Kings have responded to rumours about captain Mayank Agarwal:

Rumours that the team might sack captain Mayank Agarwal surfaced in the Indian media, leading Punjab Kings to issue a statement.

Punjab had a strong lineup for the last tournament, but their all-out strategy did not work out, and they were unable to create an impression. Even worse, Mayank Agarwal, who has been their best performance all season, went through a significant downturn and was unable to bounce back.

Mayank scored 196 runs, well below his usual output, and was dropped from the batting order in the second part of the season.
