Mumbai batter Suved Parkar had an excellent start to his First-Class career, as he slammed a double-century on debut in the ongoing second quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy 2022 against Uttarakhand on June 7, 2022.

Parkar was included in the Mumbai Ranji team in place of Ajinkya Rahane, who had injured his hamstring during the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) while playing for Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Parkar, batting at No. 4, achieved the milestone of the double century in the second session on Day 2, by driving left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh for a single to long-off. The 21-year-old achieved the milestone off the 375th ball he faced, having hit 17 fours and three sixes. He thus joined an exclusive club becoming only the 12th Indian batter to mark his First-Class debut with a double hundred.

Amol Mazumdar, The Only Other Mumbai Batter With Double Ton On FC Debut Leads The Applause For Suved Parkar

The Indian record for the highest score in debut is held by Saqibul Ghani, who made 341 for Bihar against Mizoram in the league stage of the ongoing Ranji Trophy. And Suved Parkar was also the second Mumbai batter to score a double ton on his FC debut after Amol Mazumdar, who made 260 against Haryana in 1993-94.

Incidentally, Amol Mazumdar was the one who led the applause for Parkar from the dressing room, given that he is the head coach of the Mumbai team.
