Rashid Latif Reveals Why He Feels Virat Kohli Is Very Similar To Javed Miandad

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, Rashid Latif, feels that the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli is very similar to Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad.

Former India captain Kohli is going through a lean patch for an extended period of time. The batting maestro has not scored a century since 2019 and he has struggled for runs during the ongoing India tour of England 2022.

In the rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, he scored 11 and 20 runs. He also played three white-ball games, including two T20I games and one ODI game, on the same England tour, scoring just 1 and 11 runs in T20Is while registering a score of 16 in the ODI.

Meanwhile, Latif said that Kohli is similar to Miandad because both of them don’t rely too much on data analytics. He added that the legendary Pakistan batter Miandad had even said that computers can’t help in cricket.

“Cricket, as a game, has become smarter with the arrival of data analysts. When Virat made his international debut, such things had just begun to arrive in the game. Not many people actually believed in it strongly.

“A big player like Javed Miandad had said that computers cannot help in cricket. I think Virat Kohli is very similar to Javed Miandad in that way,” Latif said on his official YouTube channel.

Latif further said that in modern-day cricket bowlers are working hard to find out the weakness of the batters as even the batting greats have some or the other weakness in their batting technique.

“When your days are good, you won’t realise that bowlers are working out on finding your weakness. In modern-day cricket, things have changed.

“Everyone is finding out the batter’s weakness. Babar, Rizwan, Virat… everyone has some weakness or the other. But they haven’t changed their game.”
