Reports: Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav Set To Be Available For India's T20I Series Against Sri Lanka

The Mumbai duo of Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav is all set to join the Virat Kohli-led Indian contingent for the upcoming five-match Test series against England.

However, according to a report in CricBuzz, both players are still available for the upcoming T20I series in Sri Lanka, which starts on July 25.

The Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) has finally accepted the team management’s request to send in injury replacements having shot down the same a few days ago.

Initially, Team India had asked for the replacement of opener Shubman Gill. Gill, who has now returned home, was ruled out of the England Tests immediately after the WTC final due to a shin injury, which is set to keep him out of the game for the next 3 months.

However, the BCCI did not pay heed to the request.

Matters exasperated last week during India’s three-day warm-up game when Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar got ruled out of the tour after sustaining a finger injury.

With three players already ruled out and Ajinkya Rahane grappling with hamstring issues, chief selector Chetan Sharma after consultation with skipper Virat and coach Shastri decided to pick Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw as replacements.

There are reports in the media that the team also wants a left-hand batting option and, hence, Devdutt Padikkal is also on course to travel to the UK to join the Indian contingent.

It is yet not clear when and from where will Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav will travel to the UK.

It is believed that the players in Sri Lanka themselves weren’t aware of the development till Saturday morning.

However, the logistic arrangements are afoot to transport the players to the United Kingdom.
