Ricky Ponting Opens Up Shane Warne’s Demise

“Through his comments, he was a teacher, and I’ve seen hundreds of images of all the spinners he worked with within the previous 24 hours.”

“It’s difficult to put into words how I feel. I initially met him at the Academy when I was 15 years old. He gave me my moniker. For more than a decade, we were teammates, sharing all of life’s highs and lows. “He was always someone you could trust on, someone who loved his family,” Ponting tweeted.

“Someone who would always put his friends first and be there for you when you needed him. I’ve never played with or against a better bowler. King, may you rest in peace. Keith, Bridgette, Jason, Brooke, Jackson, and Summer are on my mind,” he said.

Ponting, when asked what he actually wanted to say to Warne, said: “I’d tell him how much I adore him. That is something I wish I had spoken to him.”

Ponting also reflected on his memories of Warne, revealing that he was awestruck by some of the leg spinner’s pals and giving tribute to the type of man he was.

“It was astonishing to watch some of the names flash up on his phone if you spent a day with him. It was unusual for Warney to simply sit at home. One of his great qualities was that he would always attempt to make time for his friends and family,” Ponting stated.

Warne was regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. When he first came to prominence in the early 1990s, he almost single-handedly revolutionized leg-spin bowling, and by the time he retired from international cricket in 2007, he had been the first bowler to reach 700 Test wickets.

Warne concluded his international career with 708 Test wickets and 293 One-Day International wickets, putting him in second place behind his close friend and adversary Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka in terms of all-time international wicket-takers (1,347). Shane also led Australia to ten wins and a single loss in 11 One-Day Internationals.
