India may have done decently well as a unit thus far on the tour of England but if there is one thing that needs a lot of improvement on their part is their ability to take reviews.

Captain Virat Kohli and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj once came in the firing line on the second day of the Lord’s Test after the form burned two DRS calls within a space of two overs on the insistence of the latter.

It all happened after the Tea break when Mohammed Siraj, who had taken two wickets earlier in the session, rapped Engish skipper Joe Root on his pads.

Siraj was as usual extremely convinced that he had got his man and he eventually persuaded Virat Kohli to go upstairs.

The ball tracking displayed that the ball would have comfortably gone down the leg side.

The same thing happened in the very next over bowled by Siraj and once again Virat went for an emotional review despite Rishabh Pant urging him not to.

Within a space of two Mohammed Siraj overs, India had burnt two of their three reviews, attracting criticism from fans as well as pundits and commentators.

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was asked about India’s thought process behind the review after the end of the second day’s play.

Here’s what Pant said:

“We take the DRS thinking that it will hit the stumps but the replays end up different. We can only imagine what might happen and we are taking our chances most of the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, that’s just part and parcel of the game,” Pant said.
