South Africa is all set to play the 3 Match ODI Series against England starting on 27th January. This ODI Series is extremely important for South Africa which is languishing at 11th position with 59 points from 16 matches. The hosts are in desperate need of points to get a direct qualification in the 2023 World Cup.
England is already qualified for the 2023 WC and would like to make sure that Jofra Archer gets some ample practice in the middle after a long injury gap of 2 years. England would be keen to find the ideal combination and have a great chance of retaining the World Cup.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Squad
Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang was having an interaction with media and revealed the squad. “The selection panel is particularly excited by the depth of this squad, with a mix of youth and experience. We are confident that this group of players will take us one step closer to qualifying for the ICC Men’s World Cup in India later this year.” said Victor Mpitsang.
“We are also pleased with the inclusion of Sisanda and the commitment he has shown to meet the fitness standards required for national selection. The three match series against England will kickstart our international home season following months on the road, and we would like to wish Temba & Shukri well in what will no doubt be an exciting series against quality opposition.” he added.
CSA Name Squad
Marco Jansen is back into the ODI setup. At the same time, it would be interesting to see whether the Proteas would be able to switch from SA20 to ODI format which would be quite tough. CSA has shown faith in Temba Bavuma despite suffering defeat against India.
