Ramiz Raja is having to face all sorts of accusations ever since his sacking as the PCB chief after Pakistan’s 0-3 defeat against England. This was the second series defeat for the side at home having gone down against Australia earlier this year. The losses have almost ended Pakistan WTC’s final hopes. Najam Sethi has taken over as the 37th chairman of the PCB.

Ramiz Raja won the elections unopposed for a three-year term but had to step down within 15 months of assuming the position. Various former Pakistan cricketers have targeted him and criticized him for not improving the nation’s cricketing standards during his tenure.

The most recent accusation against him came from former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt who criticized his brainchild Pakistan Junior League (PJL). He pointed out how matches were held on the same surface and the event managed to garner no public attention at all.

The PJL was held earlier this year in October. All 19 matches were held in Lahore between six different teams. The 38-year-old opined that instead of investing in the PJL, Raja could have used this money for sending the Pakistan A team for overseas tours for better exposure.

PJL A Big Blunder From Ramiz Raja: Salman Butt

“It was a big blunder. With the same amount of money, they would have been able to conduct four tours for the Pakistan A team. They spent 125 crore on the tournament, but what exposure are the players getting? Apart from broadcasting the matches live, what else did they do? All the matches were played on the same pitch” Butt said.

Butt further criticized the new lot of Pakistan pacers saying that they are looking to bowl way too many slower deliveries. Shaheen Afridi is not a part of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand. He missed the Test series against England as well.

“I was watching the Test match between Australia and South Africa. Anrich Nortje, who was bowling his 24th over of the innings, clocked 140 kmph consistently. The Pakistani bowlers, on the other hand, tend to bowl 13 slower balls in four overs” he further added.

Pakistan and New Zealand are currently playing the first Test in Karachi. The hosts scored 438 in their first innings on the back of Babar Azam’s 161. The Kiwis responded by scoring a mammoth 612/9 with Kane Williamson scoring 200 and Tom Latham 113. Pakistan in their second innings are 77/2 trailing by 97 runs at stumps on day 4.
