Sandeep Lamichhane, the captain of Nepal, highlighted his distress by claiming that being accused of coercion by another person had left him physically and mentally shaken.

After an arrest warrant was issued against him, the Cricket Association of Nepal suspended him on an immediate basis.

The Big Bash League, the Bangladesh Premier League, the Lanka Premier League, the IPL, and the CPL are just a few of the T20 tournaments that 22-year-old Lamichhane has competed in. Lamichhane is by far Nepal’s most well-known cricketer and the only one to have done so.

His last competitive match was a T20I series against Kenya in August 2022. He is also the third-fastest bowler in the world with 50 ODI and T20I wickets. He was then scheduled to play for Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL but was unable to do so.

At the time of the arrest warrant, Lamichhane was Nepal’s captain; however, after the board suspended him, he no longer holds that role. At the time, Prashant Vikram Malla, the interim secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal, stated that his suspension will be maintained awaiting the conclusion of the investigation.

“I was not able to think about what to do and what not to do,” Lamichanne was quoted as saying on his Facebook post, written in Nepali.

“All these things affected me mentally on one hand and, on the other hand, I had to go through illness, and due to mental stress and ill health, I kept myself in isolation. I have been mentally and physically affected by the portrayal and I have reached a state of imbalance”

“I have been bringing myself back to a normal state under the advice of doctors. My health is gradually improving, and I am planning to return to Nepal as soon as possible to defend against the false complaint against me.”

“I will fight the legal battle against the false accusations. As far as I understand, according to the constitution of Nepal, I am innocent until proven guilty. I also understand that the constitution provides for the right to live with dignity, the right against torture, the right to privacy, the right to health, and the right to consult with my legal practitioner.”

Lamichhane made his international debut for the Delhi Capitals franchise in 2018, becoming the first player from his country to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
