Shahrukh Khan Is Knocking On The Doors - Dinesh Karthik Believes The Tamil Nadu Player Is Close To Making India Debut

Wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik stated that Tamil Nadu batter, Shahrukh Khan, is within touching distance to make it to the Indian squad, at least in the ODI format.

Shahrukh was the hero when Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He smashed a six off the final ball to help his team become the most successful team in the history of the tournament.

He has also been impressive for the Punjab Kings in the IPL in the limited number of chances he has been given. Shahrukh has also enhanced his reputation as the finisher, something he intends to do for Team India as well.

“Shahrukh Khan is knocking on the doors, he is very close and he is within touching distance. I have no doubt that when he gets the opportunity, he will do very well for Team India,” Karthik told ANI.

Being from Tamil Nadu, Karthik was quite content at seeing how the domestic team is doing and the talented cricketers the state has managed to produce in recent times. Plenty of them have already bagged contracts with IPL franchises and are making rapid progress.

“I think obviously one of the greatest pleasures for me is to see all these boys go on to represent the country. They all have two ambitions – either they want to be a part of the IPL franchise and the next step would be to play for the country.”

“That comes with good performances, Tamil Nadu as a domestic side has done so well. Last year, 14 of the players were part of IPL teams and I was so happy to see those things happening,” Karthik added.

The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held next month and several promising Tamil Nadu players have registered for the same.
