Grew Up Watching A Lot of Rodney Marsh: Rahul Dravid

While speaking in a BCCI video, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid paid tributes to Rodney Marsh and Shane Warne. The former Indian skipper pointed out that although he did not know Rodney Marsh well, he grew up watching him play.

“Very sad day for the game of cricket to lose two legends in two days. People who truly made the game what it is and truly loved the game is indeed a big loss. Our thoughts are with both the families, all their friends and may their souls rest in peace. I didn’t know Rod that well, met him a few times. But obviously grew up watching a lot of Rodney match and hearing a lot of about him”, Dravid said.

Speaking about Shane Warne, Dravid said that playing with him and alongside him was one of the highlights of his cricketing career. Dravid and Warne played alongside each other during their stint with Rajasthan Royals in the early seasons of IPL.

“But I had the privilege and I really had the honour to be able to compete and play against Shane Warne. But more importantly, the real privilege of getting to know him personally and playing with him and alongside him as a colleague will be probably one of the highlights of my cricketing career.

“Just to get to know him personally, a lot as already spoken about him as a great cricketer and rightly soul. We all know a lot about that. But for me what will remain is just the memories of the friendship, of the times that we spent together off the field,” Dravid said.
