On Sunday, Shane Warne’s family and friends gathered in Melbourne for a private burial to say their final goodbyes to the Australian cricketing legend.

Two Saints scarves were draped over the wooden coffin as pallbearers, including Warne’s son Jackson, carried it from the service to a lap of honour around the Moorabbin Oval in Melbourne.

Warne was largely considered as one of the all-time great players. On March 4, he died while on vacation with friends on the Thai island of Samui. Warne, 52, died after a suspected heart attack, according to an autopsy report. McGuire presided over the funeral and gave the eulogy.

On March 30, a state tribute will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was the site of many of Warne’s memorable bowling exploits, including a hat-trick against England in 1994 and his 700th test wicket on Boxing Day in 2006.

The ground’s Great Southern Stand will also be renamed in Warne’s honour.

Shane Warne was acknowledged as one of cricket’s all-time greats:

Warne was regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. When he first came to prominence in the early 1990s, he almost single-handedly revolutionized leg-spin bowling, and by the time he retired from international cricket in 2007, he had been the first bowler to reach 700 Test wickets.

Warne concluded his international career with 708 Test wickets and 293 One-Day International wickets, putting him in second place behind his close friend and adversary Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka in terms of all-time international wicket-takers (1,347). Shane also led Australia to ten wins and a single loss in 11 One-Day Internationals.
