Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has been speaking a lot about Indian cricket since Virat Kohli stepped down from captaincy across formats. From talking about the next Indian Test captain to his take on Indian pacers Akhtar has been in the news. He was recently seen playing the Legends League Cricket in Oman.

Talking to former Australian pacer Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar kept his opinion on the modern Indian pacers. He said that the Indian bowlers are good but they lack the energy and the firepower that the Pakistani pacers have in plenty.

“There is a difference between Pakistan and India. The Indians are producing good fast bowlers, but what they are lacking is the rare energy – that anger on your face, that attitude that I am going to just kill you,” noted Akhtar while speaking on a podcast alongside Australia legend Brett Lee.

Explaining Pakistan’s pace bowling domination in world cricket, Shoaib Akhtar said that it is the attitude towards pace bowling that sets the Pakistani pacers apart from their Indian counterparts.

“The idols that we have, the food, the environment, the attitude. At the same time, you have people like me who are full of energy. It gives us pleasure to bowl quick,” said Akhtar.

He further spoke about the diet plan followed by the Pakistan pacers which is not quite the same as the Indian pacers.

“You become what you eat, right? My nation eats lots of animals and we end up being like animals. When it comes to fast bowlers, we just run in like lions,” he further explained.

Akhtar also kept his opinion on Virat Kohli being removed as captain a few days earlier. In a bizarre statement, he said that he would never have married had he been in Kohli’s place and that the pressure of marriage and family can take a toll on a player’s performance for his team.

“I would have not even married if I were in his place. I had just scored runs and enjoyed cricket, these 10-12 years of cricket are different time and doesn’t come again, I am not saying getting married is wrong but If you are playing for India, you would have enjoyed a time a little,” Dainik Jargan quoted Akhtar as saying.
