Former Pakistan National Cricket Team express pacer Shoaib Akhtar was delighted to see the 36-year-old batter Fawad Alam’s inclusion in the Pakistan playing XI for the second Test match of the two-match Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.
The second match of the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team is being played at the Galle International Stadium, Galle.

Alam, who made a comeback to the Pakistan Test team in 2020 after having to wait for around 11 years, replaced the 37-year-old Azhar Ali in the playing XI in the second game.

On Sunday, July 24, Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter to express delight at Alam’s inclusion. He also urged Babar Azam and Co. to restrict Dimuth Karunaratne-led Sri Lanka to a score under 300.

Along with Fawad Alam the left-arm spinner Nauman Ali was also included in the playing XI. Ali replaced young left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who got ruled out of the game after suffering an injury.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. At stumps, on Day 1 Sri Lanka were able to post 315/6 on the board with the help of the good batting performances of Oshada Fernando, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella.
