Sourav Ganguly Stable After Testing COVID-19 Positive

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly is stable after testing COVID-19 positive.

Ganguly was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata on late Monday after testing positive for the dreadful virus.

Sourav received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy: Woodlands Hospital

Ganguly is double vaccinated and is currently being examined by doctors at the Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital in Kolkata.

“Mr Sourav Ganguly, BCCI President and former Indian cricket captain, was admitted at Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital on December 27, 2021 late evening with Covid Positive status,” Woodlands Hospital said in an official statement.

“He received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy on the same night and is currently hemodynamically stable. A medical board comprising Dr Saroj Mondal, Dr Saptarishi Basu and Dr Soutik Panda in consultation with Dr Devi Shetty and Dr Aftab Khan is keeping a close watch on his health status,” the statement added.

Ganguly’s brother Snehasish, who had also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this year, confirmed that the former Indian skipper is stable.

Sourav is stable. He underwent angioplasty earlier this year. So as precautionary measure he has been admitted to Woodlands,” Snehasish told The Indian Express.

Ganguly was twiced hospitalised this year and had undergone angioplasty after having some cardiac issues.

Ganguly was appointed as the BCCI president in October 2019 with his official tenure ended back in July 2020.

Ganguly along with BCCI secretary Jay Shah completed their tenures for more than one year but continue to hold their respective posts in the Indian board as the Supreme Court of India is yet to hear their case.

The matter has already been adjourned many times before. Earlier, the case was adjourned from December 2020 to February 2021 and then to March 2021.
