Sri Lanka Playing XI vs Pakistan- Pakistan T20I Tri Series 2025, Final:
Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara
Lanka would aim to earn back-to-back wins and clinch the T20I tri-series final against Pakistan, the same team against whom they won the previous match by a close margin, to book a spot in the final.
The Lankan batters would be banked upon to come good once again as they did in the last match against an in-form Pakistani bowling lineup.
The onus will be on the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara to get the team off to a good start, both while batting first and while chasing, to increase Lanka's chances of winning the match in question.
Nissanka and Mishara were able to lay a solid foundation while batting second in the reverse fixture against Zimbabwe, but failed to replicate the same against Pakistan as Nissanka got out early.
Having said that, Nissanka's opening partner, Mishara, held one end and played an attacking knock of 76 runs.
The left-hander would look to build on the form that he has picked up in the last match and play a similar innings to get his team over the line.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis (wk), Kusal Perera, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka (c), Pavan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga
Along with Mishara, the Lankan middle order also chipped in with handy contributions to ensure that the visitors don't undergo a collapse, which has been the case in quite a few matches of late.
One of Sri Lanka's most experienced batters, Kusal Mendis, stroked his way to an attacking innings of 40 runs and complemented Mishara well as both batters kept the pressure on the opposition bowlers.
The assault was carried forward by captain Dasun Shanaka, who provided the final impetus and took the team to a challenging score of 184 runs.
The same batters will be entrusted to do the job yet again when Sri Lanka face Pakistan for the third time in the series.
Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga
As far as the bowling is concerned, it also came to the party, especially in the first six overs, with Dushmantha Chameera and Eshan Malinga picking up three wickets between them in the first six overs to break the back of Pakistan's chase.
Chameera, who was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka by picking up four wickets, including one in the final over to seal the game for Sri Lanka, would look to carry the same form in the important game on Saturday (November 29).
Along with Chameera, it was the former captain Wanindu Hasaranga who kept the batters in check in the middle overs and picked up the wicket of Usman Khan at a crucial moment in the match, as Usman was starting to shift gears.
Hasaranga will also look to be among the wickets in the final after getting back into form in the last couple of games.
The only area of concern for Sri Lanka before the final would be the form of Eshan Malinga and Maheesh Theekshana, both of whom have been quite inconsistent in the series so far, and would be expected to bring their A game to the fore.
