As far as the teams are concerned, Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan has already made it clear that the primary focus of the Indian side will be to seal the series and then do away with the team changes. The Indian management took everyone by surprise when they came up with 6 changes in the final ODI against Sri Lanka out of which, 5 players made their ODI debut for the sub-continent giant.
However, Shikhar Dhawan was stern enough in the press conference making it clear that the visitors will come up with their strongest playing XI while heading into the first T20I. As far as the Lankans are concerned, their spinners turned the tide in their favor in the last ODI and we might see a couple of spin options in the side. India Look Favorites But Sri Lanka No Far Behind
As the two sides lock horns for the first T20I of the series, the visitors step into the game as the heavyweights with a far superior squad in terms of performance. However, every time Sri Lanka have gone down, they have bounced back in a better manner. As both the teams eye the T20 World Cup 2021 which is slated in the month of October-November this year, this will be a good platform for the players to audition.
There was a lot of spin on offer in the final ODI and hence, the Men in Blue would like to explore their available options. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been the tried and tested spin duo and hence, Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy could be a great spin duo going into the T20I series.
