England pacer Stuart Broad has shut down an Indian fan on Twitter who said that the hosts depend on the weather to get results in Test matches. England is currently up against India at Lord’s in the second of the 5-match Test series.

After electing to bowl first, Joe Root’s men failed to break through a solid opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. The conditions were favoring the bowlers but the openers stood strong, weathering a barrage of testing deliveries before upping the scoring ante.

There was a lack of venom in the English bowling attack apart from James Anderson. It never really looked like either Rohit or Rahul were in any real trouble. This evoked a few reactions from users on Twitter and one of them stated that England depends on the weather. Stuart Broad, however, wasn’t about to take it lying down and he gave a befitting reply. He wrote:

England have won Test series Vs India at home 2011,2014 & 2018 recently. Must have got extremely lucky with the weather for all those days!

Stuart Broad ruled out of the entire Test series against India

On the eve of the second Test, England was dealt a body blow when Stuart Broad was ruled out of the Test series against India. He suffered a muscle tear in his right calf, which was revealed in an MRI scan he was sent to on Wednesday.

Broad sustained the injury during a warmup session with the team. He was on course to play his 150th Test match but will have to wait till the Ashes to reach the milestone. Revealing how the injury came to happen, Broad said on his Instagram:

Things can change so quickly. During the warm-up, I jumped a hurdle, landed a bit awkwardly on my right ankle, then the next step felt like I’d been whipped by a rope as hard as you can imagine on the back of my leg. All so innocuous.

Season over and gutted to miss this India Test series but a huge focus on Australia now. Going to take my time, no rush, baby steps, and be the fittest I can be heading out there. I’ll be watching every ball from my sofa hoping to see runs and wickets in the glorious Lord’s sunshine,” he revealed.

England announced that Saqib Mahmood was called up as Broad’s cover for the series.
