West Indian spinner, Sunil Narine, England all-rounder, Moeen Ali, and South Africa batsman, Faf du Plessis have decided to take part in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) over Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The schedule for the two leagues is currently clashing. While BPL gets underway on January 20 and ends on February 20, PSL begins on January 27. This has forced the players to opt for one of the leagues and the above-mentioned trio has chosen the BPL.

We are not worried about the PSL and we are expecting to host the players draft of this month but the only thing that we are worried about is the corona situation,” Sheikh Sohel, BPL governing council member stated.

Narine, du Plessis, and Moeen will play for the Comilla Victorians. Nafisa Kamal, the managing director of the Victorians confirmed the same. This was part of the reason why the trio didn’t enter the player draft for the PSL which took place a week ago.

BPL set to allow only three foreign players per team

The BPL will be allowing teams to field only three overseas players in their lineups, Chattogram Challengers managing director, KM Rifatuzzaman confirmed. Previous editions saw four players being played but it has been changed since.

Rajshahi Royals, BPL
Andre Russell led the Rajshahi Royals to the 2019-20 BPL title.

Yes, you can say that we are confirmed by the board to take part in BPL. We came here to talk with BCB and they told us that we will be representing our Chattogram Challengers. In the last edition, there was a provision of playing four overseas players while in this edition three players will be taking part for each franchise.”

“The date for the draft is yet to be finalised and once it is finalised we would be more organised. You know that the players’ draft of PSL is taking place today, and after it is completed we can have a clear picture about the availability of the foreign players in the competition and can let you know who we are going to confirm,” Rifatuzzaman said.
