Suryakumar Yadav Opens Up About Rishabh Pant's Antics While Wicketkeeping In Test Matches

Indian middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav revealed interesting anecdotes he came across while fielding during India’s tour of England back in August 2021.
Rishabh Pant had already made a name for himself by sledging and making funny statements behind the stumps but experiencing it on-field for the first time was a great moment for Suryakumar.

“Once I was fielding at silly point for Puji Bhai in a Test in England. The match situation was tight. And suddenly Pant goes ‘Bhaiya chai samosa, kuch du? Over hogaya. Uth jao!’ (bro do you need anything? Tea, samosa? Get up now, the over is done!)” Suryakumar said while talking on the YouTube show ‘Breakfast with Champions’.

Although a generally calm person with the bat in hand, Pant turns into a different character when he is standing behind the stumps. His infamous ‘temporary captain’ comment on former Australian captain, Tim Paine, made waves back during India’s tour down under.

“Rishabh is too good when he is keeping. He moves me just 20 cm. Sometimes he does this (hand gestures) and it confuses me where to go… Then he says ‘nothing bhaiya, was just getting bored. Please stand wherever you are,” Suryakumar further added.
The duo will be playing together for India in the white-ball setup but to break into the Test side, Suryakumar will have to wait and continue performing.
