Young Indian batter Prithvi Shaw scored his maiden triple century, smashing 379 runs off 383 balls against Assam in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at the Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati. Prithvi Shaw replied to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah’s tweet, and it went viral.
Prithvi Shaw was on the verge of 400 runs before he was dismissed by Ryan Parag. The 23-year-old broke Sanjay Manjrekar’s record (377) to become Mumbai’s highest individual scorer in a single Ranji Trophy innings. The right-handed batsman is now the second-highest scorer in Ranji Trophy history, behind Bhausaheb Nimbalkar’s unbeaten 443 against Saurashtra in 1948.

“Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic,” Jay Shah wrote.

Shaw made a case for his inclusion in the Indian squad for the limited-overs series against New Zealand with his form. He has been making consistent runs across formats in domestic cricket, but with stiff competition for the opening slot in the national team, he could not make it into the squad. He made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka in Colombo and did not get a chance to play for India after that match.
