Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian opener, has claimed that his main objective is to maintain peak physical fitness to compete in the forthcoming ICC One-Day International World Cup in 2023. India will host the major event the next year.

The 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be the 13th edition of the men’s Cricket World Cup and will be contested entirely in India in October and November 2023. Three earlier events – 1987, 1996, and 2011 – were partially hosted there.

Originally slated to take place from 9 February to 26 March 2023, it was revealed in July 2020 that the tournament would be moved to an October-November window, citing a disruption in the qualification timetable caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
