The Pressure To Perform For Mumbai Indians Is Good As It Motivates You - Dewald Brevis

South African youngster Dewald Brevis had a decent outing in his debut IPL season with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Although MI finished at the bottom of the points table, Brevis showed glimpses of his immense potential during the tournament.
The youngster scored 161 runs in the league but the mannerism in which he carried himself on such a big stage was commendable. He looked highly confident, completely unafraid of taking on the best bowlers in the world.
“It was very special to meet Rohit, Ishan, and the whole team when I finished quarantine. Of course, my debut was a special memory, playing in front of so many people. The louder it gets, the higher the pressure gets and I love that.”

“The pressure to perform for MI is good because it motivates you to get another trophy for the team,” Brevis said in an interview with the magazine ‘Cricket Fanatics’ on their YouTube channel.
“The mental side was an important part of my learning there” – Dewald Brevis
Rohit Sharma and co. got off to a terrible start in IPL 2022 losing their first eight matches. However, bowling coach Shane Bond said they never let their shoulders drop and continued fighting like the champion side they are. Brevis was happy to be part of such a team with a great mentality.
“The set-up at MI is amazing because there are so many people to support you. I trusted them to make the right decisions for me, everyone just wanted me to play my game, i.e be fearless and embrace the moment. The mental side was an important part of my learning there.”

“It’s important to be playing as many games to understand how top-level cricket works. So when I came back to the team towards the end, it was easier for me to know what works. You have to be fearless but not reckless and identify moments to attack and when to take a single,” he further added.
