The Toughest Thing About Contracting Covid Is Keeping Your Mind Distracted: Varun Chakravarthy,

Kolkata Knight Riders’ leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy recently opened up about his ordeal with Covid-19.

Chakravarthy was the first player to contract the virus during the 14th season of the now-suspended Indian Premier League.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer tested positive for Covid-19 on May 01 and within the next 24 hours, the BCCI was forced to suspend the tournament for an indefinite period of time after several Covid positive cases emerged across four different teams.

Speaking about his ordeal with Covid, Chakravarthy said that the toughest thing about contracting the virus is to keep your mind distracted.

The right-arm leg-spinner said that he is still feeling weakness and dizziness but he is confident of resuming his training soon.

”The toughest thing about contracting Covid-19 is keeping your mind distracted, and away from all that was happening. Because you are alone, away from your family and teammates. I still haven’t been able to resume training full tilt because of post-Covid-19 symptoms. Although I don’t have cough or fever, there is weakness and dizziness. The loss of smell and taste is still intermittent, but I’m confident of being able to resume training soon,” Varun Chakravarthy was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo. 

 

‘The KKR franchise was very supportive’- Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy also heaped high praise on the Kolkata Knight Riders management for the support they provided him during the entire phase.

He also revealed that KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan spoke to all players individually to motivate them.

”The KKR franchise was very supportive. They went to the extent of even having someone from the team management stay back with me, even after the IPL was postponed and left only after I returned two negative tests and got back home. Shah Rukh Khan (Knight Riders’ co-owner) spoke to all the players individually and motivated us,” Varun Chakravarthy added.
