England batsman Dawid Malan on Tuesday lauded Virat Kohli, saying the India captain’s infectious energy rubs off on his teammates. Malian said India has incredible depth and is soundly led by Kohli in all conditions.

Virat Kohli has made India the team to beat in all conditions and had kept them the no.1 Test team for five years. India qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC 2021) final as well under his and Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership. Kohli captained India to Test series wins in West Indies and Australia and then beat Bangladesh and England at home to qualify for the WTC final.

I Think The Way Virat Kohli Goes About His Business, He Is Very Infectious: Dawid Malan

The left-hander Malan was all praises for opposition captain Virat Kohli on the eve of the third Test match between the two sides to be played at Headingley, Leeds from August 25. He said that Virat Kohli’s infectious energy affects and charges his teammates as well.

Not only did Dawid Malan praised Kohli, but he also praised the Indian team for their tremendous depth in both the batting and bowling departments and termed them as amazing opponents.

“I think they (India) are very well led; I think Virat (Kohli), the way he goes about his business, he is very infectious and you know he drags a lot of people with him. They (India) have also got a lot of depth not only in their batting but in their bowling as well, they have got bowlers that can win Test cricket in all conditions. They just have a lot of depth and they are fantastic competitors,” Malan said.

Malan will be looking to making his comeback into the England Test team after three years. He had been axed from the side after playing India in Birmingham during the 2018 series which the home side won 1-4. However, now with England batting in the doldrums, Malan would be hoping to support Joe Root who has been single-handedly carrying the torch of hosts’ batting.
