Mohammad Rizwan, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman, praised the friendship between India and Pakistan teammates, citing his encounter with Virat Kohli and the Pakistan players’ meet-and-greet time with then-India mentor MS Dhoni at the T20 World Cup last year.
After the T20 World Cup encounter between the arch-rivals last year, Virat Kohli and Mohammad Rizwan hugged one other. After Pakistan’s 10-wicket triumph against India in the crucial Super 12 match, Kohli’s expression to thank Rizwan and Babar Azam’s performance went viral on social media.
Rizwan also explained his iconic ‘Virat Kohli is ours’ remark from last month on Waheed Khan’s Youtube show Cricket Baaz on Monday, explaining that he just said that he feels all players are a member of one large family.
“Kohli was my first encounter. ‘Virat is aggressive and everything,’ I’d heard from other gamers. But it was incredible how he interacted with me before and after the event. If I stated, “He’s our Virat Kohli,” it’s because we’re all related “Rizwan expressed his thoughts.
“Certainly, nobody is a celebrity whenever we hit the ground; there is no fraternity or anything like that.” However, when we meet Kohli and some of our players met MS Dhoni off the field, we were greeted with a lot of love and affection. “It was nothing different,” he added.

Rizwan revealed his friendship with Cheteshwar Pujara, revealing that when the India batsman was in the Sussex dressing room, he was the friendly troublemaker.
“Believe me, even in County cricket, where Pujara is with me, we live with so much affection.” In reality, I’m the one who continues to bother him and call him out. He can’t stop laughing.”
“The same thing happened with Virat Kohli. When I initially met him, it was with a lot of love and affection,” he says.
India and Pakistan will face off in their T20 World Cup opener in Australia later this year.
