"There's A High Chance That I Won't Make It" - Glenn Maxwell On India Tour

Australian Cricket Team’s flamboyant all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has injured his leg in a freak accident. The all-rounder is expected to be fit till March 2023. He was seen celebrating his friend’s 50th birthday and then where the incident took place.
Glenn Maxwell had a topsy-turvy T20 World Cup 2022 where he scored 112 runs in 4 matches and was looking scratchy. There are now clouds over his participation in the much anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
Glenn Maxwell on Injury
Glenn Maxwell was having an interaction with Cricket Australia’s ‘Unplayable Podcast ‘ and was asked about the India tour.
“There’s a time limit on when they’re going to announce that squad to India and to be fair, there’s a high chance that I won’t make it. They’re obviously going have to see me playing cricket and they’re obviously going to have to take a big risk if they do take me,” said Maxwell.
“One of my mates, who was also one of my schoolteachers, we were laughing about something and I pretended to chase him off somewhere.
“I reckon we both took about three or four steps out there, and both slipped at the same time. I just got my foot stuck a little bit, and he fell, unfortunately at a really bad angle and landed straight on my leg,” he added.
Exciting Series on Cards
Australia hasn’t won a Test Series in India for the last 18 years which is a lot of time. Australia would be well aware of the fact that they have to be spot-on with their selection as winning in India is not easy. Skipper Pat Cummins has a strenuous task on his hands.
Cricket Australia (CA) would be hoping that Maxwell is available for selection as he is someone who can be the trump card for the Aussies. India on the other side has a strong bowling lineup where once again spinners’ role would be pivotal in deciding the winner of the series.
It won’t be wrong to say that India has an edge over Australia not because of their track record but because India has won back-to-back Test Series in Australia.
