"There's Nothing Without The BCCI": Danish Kaneria Remarks On India's Decision Not To Travel To Pakistan For Asia Cup 2023

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan spinner, has stated that the PCB should avoid a conflict with the BCCI because they are the richest cricket organization in the world and have significant sway over the other cricketing organizations.

Due to political tensions between the two nations, India and Pakistan haven’t played any cricket together recently outside of ICC and ACC events. Back in 2013, the two teams last played a bilateral series.

Pakistan was slated to host the Asia Cup in 2023, which would have been the nation’s first multi-team tournament since cricket officially resumed in the nation. However, Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), dropped a bombshell a few days ago when he declared that India would not travel to Pakistan for the tournament and that it would be held at a neutral location.

Shah received backlash for his remarks from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which also threatened to boycott the ODI World Cup in 2023, which will be held in India.

PCB should avoid a clash with the BCCI: Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan spinner, has stated that the PCB should avoid a conflict with the BCCI because they are the richest cricket organisation in the world and have significant sway over the other cricketing organizations.

“The BCCI could certainly take that action. The BCCI is the richest board in the world, and all other boards must concur with them, so the PCB cannot accept any opposition. As they are aware that there is nothing without the BCCI, the boards of England, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand are all members of the BCCI,” Danish Kaneria on Kaneria’s YouTube channel.

“The Indian board is very, very powerful, whereas the Pakistani board is quite weak. They will have to agree with what the BCCI says, and there’s no need to feel bad, because it’s due to the political scenario between the two countries,” Danish Kaneria added.

India and Pakistan recently faced off twice during the Asia Cup 2022; India won the first match, and Pakistan defeated the Men in Blue in the second. On October 23, they will square off in the T20 World Cup’s opening match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
