Veteran Australian chief selector Trevor Horns had reportedly quit his role ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

According to reports published in Sydney Morning Herald and ‘The Age’, Horns has handed his notice to Cricket Australia.

Former Australian skipper George Bailey is likely to replace Trevor Horns.

Horns, a former Aussie cricketer, enjoyed two stints as a chief selector between 1995-2021.

His first stint coincided with the golden era of Australian cricket as the national team won consecutive World Cups in 1999 and 2003 besides embarking on a 16-match winning streak in Test cricket and a historic Test series win in India in 2004.

Horns decade-long stint ended in April 2006 when he resigned from the post.

He was back at the helm a decade later in 2016 when Rodney Marsh stepped aside.

His biggest achievement during the second stint is unarguably the 2019 Ashes when Australia retained the urn for the first time on English soil since 2001.

It is still not known whether Trevor Horns’ will be the chief selector for the upcoming five-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Australia.

Australia have a bumper season ahead which includes the T20 World Cup in the UAE and home Ashes at the end of the year and Trevor Horns’ successor- George Bailey- will have his work cut out.
