India were off to a disastrous start on day three of the ongoing first Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The Virat Kohli-led side had the advantage when the day started. On day two, the visitors bowled out Australia for just 191 to take a handy lead of 53 runs. Earlier in the innings, India were all out for 244 despite being at 188 for 2 at one stage.
However, it did not take India long to throw away the advantage on day three. Inside the first hour of the play, the visitors lost most of their batsmen to find themselves reeling at 19 for 6 at one stage. Mayank Agarwal and Jasprit Bumrah started the proceedings on day three. India were on 9 for 1 when the day started.

It took Australia only two overs to make the first breakthrough when Bumrah was sent back by Cummins. The pacer then accounted for Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck even before India could add one more run after Bumrah’s dismissal. Things became worse when Josh Hazlewood dismissed Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane in his very first over to leave India reeling at 15 for 5 from 15 for 1.

And even before India could recover, they suffered the biggest blow when their talismanic skipper Virat Kohli was out for just 4 to leave the team at 19 for 6. The ongoing Test is Kohli’s last in the series as he will return home after the game to be at the birth of his first child. The likes of Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin could not deliver either as India were reduced to 31 for 9.

At the time of compiling this report, India were on 36 for 9. Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to troll India for their disastrous batting display.
Here are some of the reactions:

Pat Cummins' line in this Test match has been immaculate. Just 4% of his deliveries have been wide outside off, the lowest for any bowler. Relentless pressure. #AUSvIND
