Champion Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh is celebrating his 41st birthday today.

Born on July 03, 1980, the ‘turbanator’, as he is endearingly called in the Indian cricket folklore, Harbhajan Singh made his debut for Team India in both formats as a 17-year-old in 1998.

However, it was only in the 2001 home series against Australia when Harbhajan Singh finally shot to the limelight as he single-handedly bamboozled the famed Aussie batting unit.

Besides becoming the first Indian bowler to take a Test hat-trick, Harbhajan dished out match-winning spells throughout the series, eventually ending with a scarcely believable 32 wickets in 3 games. The next best for India were Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan with 3 apiece.

Post his exploits in a historic series win, Singh went on to establish himself as an integral member of Team India for the next decade.

Harbhajan eventually ended up becoming only the 3rd Indian bowler and 2nd spinner to claim 400+ wickets in Test cricket in 2011.

Overall, Harbhajan Singh claimed as many as 711 international wickets across all three formats and he is still the second-highest all-format wicket-taker for India after Anil Kumble.

Harbhajan was no mug with the bat either. The entertaining lower-order batter often came up with handy knocks with the bat throughout his career. His maiden Test ton in 2010 saved India from what looked like a certain defeat against New Zealand in Ahmedabad while his brisk cameo in the decider of the 2001 series against Australia helped India chase the target after a mini-collapse.

A two-time World Cup-winner [2007 T20 WC and 2011 50-over World Cup], Harbhajan Singh also led the Mumbai Indians to their maiden Champions League title in 2011. He remained an integral part of the MI set-up for a decade before joining forces with CSK and KKR in the past few years.

A 4-time IPL winner, Harbhajan Singh is 5th on the list of highest wicket-takers in the cash-rich league. In 163 games, Singh has claimed 150 wickets at an average of 26.86.
