Former India pace bowler Zaheer Khan said Virat Kohli’s comparison with the ‘Fab Four’ members will always continue irrespective of his performance in the current times.
Kohli is going through a rough patch in international cricket as his runs have dipped since the game resumed post-pandemic period. Kohli has amassed 872 runs in his last 32 Test innings at an average of 27.25 since the start of 2020 with six 50-plus scores.

Who is leading amongst the Fab Four at present in Test cricket
Over the years, the enthusiastic fans have created a group of ‘Fab Four’ consisting of Kohli (India), Steve Smith (Australia), Kane Williamson (New Zealand) and Joe Root (England).
Root is currently having the purple patch of his Test career among his contemporaries, He became the first player in the ‘Fab Four’ club to amass 10,000 runs in the format and surpassed Smith and Kohli’s tally of 27 Test hundreds with his match-winning knock (142*) against India in the second innings in the recently concluded Test series.
Williamson didn’t play enough Test cricket since the first Test against India in Kanpur in November last year and returned to lead the Black Caps in the three Tests against England. The New Zealand captain managed 96 runs in four innings at 24 while playing the format after six months.

Virat Kohli would be hoping to get back to the old form: Zaheer Khan
Zaheer said Kohli should be pumped up after the former Indian skipper made 11 & 20 in the rescheduled fifth Test against England and his international century drought extended for two years and seven months.
“Any player would feel disappointed, especially Virat Kohli. He has set such high standards for himself and so expectations will always be there for him. He is part of the fab four with Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root,” Zaheer said on Cricbuzz.

“So whenever one of them makes runs the other’s name comes along always. His comparison will always be with those kinds of players. I am sure he would also be hoping to get back to the kind of form that we have not been able to see for quite a long time,” he added.
Kohli was rested for the first T20I match against England in Southampton but will join the squad for the second game in Birmingham.
