India skipper, Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt post on the occasion of Father’s day.
The charismatic cricketer posted a picture featuring a young Kohli and his father, both posing identically. Kohli lost his father at the age of 18. He is often seen narrating a particular tale where he scored a brilliant knock for Delhi hours before going to his father’s funeral.
The right-hand batsman played a gritty inning on that eventful day. He batted for 281 minutes, faced 238 balls and scored a match-saving 90.
He bailed his team out of trouble, as the game ended in a draw. Captain of the Delhi side, Mithun Manhas had words of praise for the youngster.
“We asked him what made him come here. And we also told him that if he decided to go back and be with his family, the entire team would support him. He decided to play. That is an act of great commitment to the team, and his innings turned out to be crucial.” Manhas said at the conclusion of the game.
It clearly showed the passion and determination Kohli had for the game. Since then, he climbed the ladder and is now known as one of the modern greats of the game.
The 29-year-old didn’t take part in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan but is fit to play against Ireland.
Kohli set to make a comeback
Kohli cleared the Yo-Yo test and will participate in the two-match T20I series against Ireland. Incidentally, his teammate Ambati Rayudu, whose rich form in the IPL earned him a spot in the national side, failed to clear the fitness test.
Almost all the players including skipper Virat Kohli have comfortably cleared the qualifying mark for the Yo-Yo test.
Ambati Rayudu is the only player in the UK-bound squad, who has failed to pass the fitness test. His score is well below the permissible 16.1 set for the India and India A team.
