More than a month after India and Australia renewed their rivalry on the cricket field last month, some heat between the players was finally witnessed on Monday on day three of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket. The series between the two fierce rivals has seen some uncharacteristic and unprecedented friendliness between the players.
But on Monday, sparks of the heated rivalries between the two teams was finally witnessed when Mitchell Starc was up against Ravindra Jadeja. With the India allrounder well set, Mitchell Starc came up with the intimidating short-ball tactic. Mitchell Starc stationed several fielders on the leg-side and decided to pepper Ravindra Jadeja with short balls from round the wicket.
The move eventually paid off as Jadeja perished while going for a pull shot off a short ball and what followed thereafter might have made him even more angry. Mitchell Starc was seen taunting Jadeja after Pat Cummins took the catch at deep mid-wicket. The Australia pacer was fired up and could not help but give the India star a send-off after his plan worked.
As Jadeja was walking back after the dismissal, Mitchell Starc was seen shouting at him. Jadeja, however, decided against replying to Mitchell Starc and walked away from the field silently.

Meanwhile, India grabbed a 131-run first-innings lead after scoring 326. Starting the day on 277 for 5, India lost their remaining five wickets for just 49 runs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was the first wicket to fall after he was run-out for 112 following a call from Jadeja for a quick single. Jadeja then went on to score his fifty before departing for 57. The tail-enders could not make much of a difference with the bat as India were all out inside the first session.
