Former Indian speedster and the recently appointed Delhi Capitals (DC) assistant coach Ajit Agarkar feels that there is no strong or weak team in T20 cricket.

The right-arm pacer Ajit Agarkar has played 26 Tests, 191 One Day Internationals and 4 T20 Internationals for India National Cricket Team. He has picked 58 Test wickets, 288 One Day International wickets and 3 T20 International wickets in his illustrious career.

IPL 2022: Ajit Agarkar joins Delhi Capitals as Assistant Coach

During a discussion on the IPL Gameplan show on Star Sports, Agarkar said that the evidence of no team being a clear favourite is present in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He mentioned that the winners of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals, were criticised for their auction strategy but they went on to win the tournament.

“In T20 cricket there is no strong or weak team, I wish it were true and you could pick one or two teams but that’s not the case. We have enough evidence throughout the editions of IPL that no team is easier to beat,” he elaborated.

“If you see Rajasthan Royals in the first edition of IPL, everyone was having a laugh at the team they picked in the auction, but they went on to win the trophy.”

Shane Watson All Set To Join Ajit Agarkar, Pravin Amre As Assistant Coach At Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals announce Shane Watson as new Assistant Coach

Former Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Shane Watson has been named as the new Assistant Coach of Delhi Capitals (DC) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He will be joining the DC coaching staff comprising Ricky Ponting (Head Coach), Pravin Amre (Assistant Coach), Ajit Agarkar (Assistant Coach) and James Hopes (Bowling Coach).

While talking about his appointment, Watson said that the Indian Premier League is the best T20 tournament in the world and he had enjoyed his time as a player with three different teams.

“The IPL, the best T20 tournament in the world. I’ve got incredible memories as a player, first of all with Rajasthan Royals winning it in 2008, led by the incredible man Shane Warne, RCB and then CSK. I’ve got incredible memories as a player, and now coaching opportunities.

“It’s come to be able to work under the great Ricky Ponting. He was an amazing leader as a captain, and now to be able to coach under him. He is one of the best coaches in the world now. So, for me to be able to learn the ropes under Ricky, I am really excited.”

“With Delhi Capitals, they got great squad, now is the time to win their first title.

“I am super pumped to get over there, work with the boys, help them out as much as I can and hopefully, we can win the first title. Can’t wait to get over there,” he added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on March 27.
