Birthday boy Wanindu Hasaranga pulled off a series-winning performance against Team India in the final T20I as he showcased his precious talent to the hilt for the nth time in his young career.

And, deservedly so, Hasaranga was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Series’ for his stupendous performance.

On a track that was aiding the spinners, Hasaranga made full use of the conditions as he ran riot against clueless young Indian batters.

Hasaranga dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson in his very first over to send India firmly on the backfoot from which they never recovered.

The right-handed leg-spinner then returned to dismiss Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Chakravarthy to end up with barely believable figures of 4/9 in four overs.

Hasaranga finished the series with 7 wickets in three games. He also chipped in with the bat, scoring a crucial 6-ball 12 in the second game that helped Sri Lanka keep a check on the asking rate.

In the third T20I as well, he backed up his brilliant spell of 4/9 in four overs with an unbeaten 9-ball 14.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Wanindu Hasaranga expressed his delight at the manner in which his team played throughout the series.

He also gave insights into his process, stating that he always looks to bowl dot balls to build pressure on the batsman which eventually leads to a wicket.

“The wicket was slow, and our spinners bowled really well. When I bowl, I always try to bowl dot balls. That helps in getting wickets. The fielding also helps. I am really happy because boys played really well throughout the series, both in ODIs and T20Is.” said Wanindu Hasaranga.
