West Indies and Bangladesh go head to head in the second T20I in Dominica on Sunday, July 3. The WI vs BAN Series then moves onto Guyana for the third T20I followed by the three ODIs. The first T20I ended in a no-result after play was not possible due to the wet outfield.

The match was reduced to 16 overs per side due to wet conditions but the match was finally called off due to multiple rain interruptions. West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. Bangladesh batted for only 13 overs scoring 105/8. The series still remains at nil-nil.

Both teams are languishing in the second half of the ICC T20I rankings. Windies are placed seventh while The Tigers are eighth. A series win here would help the teams to move up in the rankings. Windies won the Test series 2-0 heading into this white-ball series. The test series was a part of the ongoing WTC. Both sides have announced their squads for the series.

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah was very specific about playing with an aggressive approach in the T20I series. He spoke about the potential in this time and how the young players can learn quickly.

“In T20Is, you have very little time in the game, so you need to be very much aware of the conditions that will be provided. The game sense has to be applied. Our motto will be to be very positive and aggressive at the same time,” he said.

“In home conditions, I think we’re consistent but we lack improvement in away conditions. Many of the players are still young and inexperienced and will have to be given time,” he added ahead of the first T20I.

West Indies also sees this as an opportunity to get some good T20I practice at home ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Nicholas Pooran and Rovam Powell are their two most experienced players in the absence of some others. Kemar Roach and specifically Jason Holder are not a part of the T20I and ODI squads.
