West Indies and Bangladesh go head to head in the third and final T20I in Guyana on Thursday, July 7. Both teams then move on to play a three-match ODI sees. Bangladesh needs to win the final game to draw the series. Windies, on the other hand, are looking for a whitewash.
West Indies are placed seventh in the ICC T20I rankings while Bangladesh are eighth. The series is very important when it comes to their preparations for the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh’s T20I skipper Mahmudullah Riyad spoke about playing the T20I series with an aggressive intent ahead of the first T20I. However, they have been well ad truly dominated by the hosts in the second T20I. They lost the second game by 35 runs as they failed to chase 194 to win.
“In T20Is, you have very little time in the game, so you need to be very much aware of the conditions that will be provided. The game sense has to be applied. Our motto will be to be very positive and aggressive at the same time,” he said.
West Indies are well placed to win the series. The squad under Nicholas Pooran seems to be in form despite a few of their key players missing. The likes of Evin Lewis, Andre Russell and Jason Holder are not a part of this series. Despite their absence, the other players have fulfilled their roles to perfection. Rovman Powell after being named as the vice-captain of the side scored a 28 ball 61 and played his part in taking the Windies past 190.
“The plan is simple, get a start, get myself in as I can always make it up. Was a very good wicket, unfortunate only two games here, wish we had three games here. A lot of credit has to go to my batting coach back home, he gave me better options against spin” he spoke about his knock after the end of the game.
