West Indies take on Bangladesh in the second T20I in Dominica on July 3, Sunday. The series then moves onto Guyana for the third T20I followed by the three ODIs. The Windies earlier defeated Bangladesh in a two-match Test series 2-0 to start off the tour.

The first T20I ended in a no-result after play was not possible due to wet outfield. The match was reduced to 16 overs per side due to wet conditions but the match was finally called off due to multiple rain interruptions. West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. Bangladesh batted for only 13 overs scoring 105/8. The series still remains at nil-nil.

Bangladesh is being led by three different captains in three different formats. Shakib Al Hasan led them in the Test series, Mahmudullah will lead them in the T20Is and Tamim Iqbal will lead them in the ODIs. Shakib is going to miss the ODI series as it is not a part of the ICC ODI Super League.

The series is an important preparation for the sides heading into the T20 World Cup later this year. In the ICC T20I rankings, the Windies are placed seventh while The Tigers are eighth. Both teams would look to move up the ladder.

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah spoke about playing this T20I series with an aggressive approach. He further spoke about the impact of youngsters within the team and the fact that they bring a new dimension to the squad with their youthful exuberance. The likes of Shakib and himself are the experienced players within the team.

“In T20Is, you have very little time in the game, so you need to be very much aware of the conditions that will be provided. The game sense has to be applied. Our motto will be to be very positive and aggressive at the same time,” he said.

West Indies have announced a 14-member squad with Dominic Drakwes as the reserve player for the three-match series. “We know Rovman’s history. He has captained the West Indies before and is also the captain of his CPL franchise. Our role is to look at future leaders as well and we have identified a few, including him, who we will be putting through programmes to ensure we keep them involved in that aspect of cricket” chief selector Desmond Haynes said.
