West Indies take on Bangladesh in the second T20I in Dominica on July 3, Sunday. The hosts are coming into the series with a Test match win behind their back. The series then moves onto Guyana for the third T20I followed by the three ODIs. The T20I series is important for both teams heading into the T20 World Cup in Australia.

The first T20I ended in a no-result after multiple rain interruptions meant that the ground was never ready for the game to happen. The match was reduced to 16 overs per side with Bangladesh scoring 105/8 before the match was finally called off.

West Indies have announced a 13-man T20I squad with Dominic Drakes as the reserve player within the squad. Nicholas Pooran will lead the side with Rovman Powell assigned as his deputy. Windies Chief Selector Desmon Haynes spoke about the thought behind assigning Powell as the vice-captain for the side.

“We know Rovman’s history. He has captained the West Indies before and is also the captain of his CPL franchise. Our role is to look at future leaders as well and we have identified a few, including him, who we will be putting through programmes to ensure we keep them involved in that aspect of cricket” chief selector Desmond Haynes said.

Generally teams back their first XI to play the first two games of a T20I series. In this article, we take a look at how they shape up for the second T20I against Bangladesh.
