West Indies take on New Zealand in the second ODI on August 19 in Barbados. The hosts won the first ODI by five wickets and are leading the series 1-0. Another win would guarantee them a hard-fought series win after a string of losses.

West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran was a relieved man after his side managed to win the first ODI. He has words of praise for his players who managed to get his side through to a win. Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul have been ruled out of the ODI series with injuries. The board has not yet announced any replacements.

“These guys taking their opportunities in their first game was really good to see. We’ve been looking for leg spinners and it was nice to see him (Cariah) do well. We knew it was going to be tricky for sure. Brooks batted well and we knew that we were only one partnership away. It gets better here at night once you get set. Glad that we could break the losing streak today and get some points” he said after the first ODI win.

Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at West Indies playing XI for the second ODI against the Kiwis. Ideally, they should stick with the same XI in the second ODI as well.

Hope scored 26 in the first OSI and was dismissed just when he was looking good. He needs to score big if West Indies are to win the series.
